We have visitors on campus! Serenading us from the trees at the end of Parking Lots F and G are the famously natty dressers, the Cedar Waxwings. On several occasions each year flocks of these stunning birds come to campus and feed on the fruits of trees and bushes lining the parking lots. Their high, thin whistle is easy to ignore (and hard to hear after years of front row seats at concerts!), but when noticed, clearly announces their presence. Few birds in our area look as formal in their summer plumage. Perhaps they have arrived early for Saturday’s auction! In any case, they are worth a break to stroll the campus. Listen for the high whistle, look toward the tops of the trees, and revel in their enthusiastic feeding on the fruits of spring.
